Sabudana vada

Sabudana vada is a traditional deep fried snack from Maharashtra. It is often served with Peanut chutney.

Sabudana vada are usually served during fast/vrat/upvaas especially in Navratri vrats.

Sabudana vadas are crunchy fried patty made from Combibation of sabudhana, potato, peanut and green chilies.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Sabudana (sago)
  • 2 large Boil potatoes
  • 5-6 green chillies
  • 1/4 cup Finely chopped Coriander (Optional)
  • 1/2 tsbp cumin seeds (Optional)
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup Roasted and coarsely ground peanut powder
  • 1/2 lemon juice (Optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying wada

Method :

  • Soak Sabudana in water. Drain the remaining water. Cover and soak for 5 to 6 hours or overnight.
  • Mashed the potatoes well before adding it to the sabudana.
  • When Sabudana is socked and ready to prepare, add mashed potatoes, peanut powder, cumin seeds,chili paste, coriander, Lemon Juice & salt and Mix well.
  • Make dough out of it.
  • Grease your hands with oil and make small balls with this mixture, flatten them a bit, and set aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan for frying. See that atleast 40 % of pan is covered with oil.
  • Once the oil is hot, fry sabudana vadas on medium to medium-high flame till they become cripsy and golden brown on both the sides.Remove the vadas in a plate.
  • The sabudana vadas are ready now.
  • Serve Hot with peanut Chutney and Enjoy !!!
